Lots of the bayous in Southern Louisiana don't have bridges. So we had to take the ferry to Cameron Parish.
The Traveling Blog
Enough LA! Turns out wandering the USA is much more fun. From the redwood forests to the gulf stream waters - discoveries along the way.

Lunch at the beach. Near Cameron Louisiana.
Parked it on the beach, nobody there to complain. Some of the folks needed subtitles.

Contemporary Arts Museum - Huston
Smattering of work from the Contemporary Arts Museum, Huston. These silicon pieces were initially generated with a 3-D computer program with the idea that multiples could be quickly and easily mass produced.
This is quite a unique rug. |

Explanation Required? Why curmudgeon?
Some have asked, "why curmudgeonly companions?" First off, Dot
doesn't know English so she's off the hook for not wanting to
participate, and has graciously waved her modeling fees for the blog. In
addition, I must explain that (at first) a certain other "party" was
not interested in sharing our experience with others, too much time,
too much work! True, a blog is time consuming and tries
one's patience especially when internet connections are inconsistent
and reliably unreliable! Posting a blog, no matter how simple or
half baked is still a lot of work. So when I diplomatically asked
Charlie what persona he wanted to adopt for our travel blog. He
reflexively chose his favorite "Chronicles of Naked Mole Rat Man."
Although I laughed until I cried, I thought this choice could be
misunderstood. That's when he dug in his heals and became the
"curmudgeon." Point being, your comments help motivate wandering curmudgeons. Unusual sense of humor? What else would you expect? :)

South Padre Island - Peaceful beauty and due to heavy rains, mosquitoes!
South Padre Island has beautiful quiet beaches that allow bikes, dogs and cars. We cycled the beaches with Dot who gleefully inhaled new smells and enjoyed the fruitless pursuit of shore birds. Farming wind is "big" there. So is gumbo and crab claws. Mwahhhahhh! |

Shrimp Outlet - South Padre Island
South Padre Island, a beautiful fertile area where shrimp abound. We were directed to the Shrimp Outlet. One might think that the word "outlet" suggests bargain basement food but I met the owner and he's really into providing shrimp treated with a kiwi solution ($$$) instead of the traditional sodium bisulfate. I'm told many are allergic to sodium bisulfate and he is offering a option/solution. More expensive he says, but worth it. Tasted great!

Requested a notification when we post something new?
Some have requested a notification when we post something new. Finally done that.
It's on the footer of the blog and you can add your email if you want to.
Thanks for asking.
